New Procedure for Pupils arriving at school
|
Procedure for children arriving at school in the morning.
This is designed with the safety of children in mind. From 8.35am, children arrive at school and should go straight to their class, where their class teacher will be on duty. They should not stay in the playground after arriving. Parents of younger children who wish to accompany their child to the door may do so. Messages relating to appointments or other issues should still be given to the office, rather than the class teacher. Please note, that this arrangement does not affect the start time of school, which remains 8.45am.Children may arrive at any point between 8.35am and 8.45 am. There will be a senior member of staff on duty between these times on the playground, to ensure children get safely to their classes and Mrs Morgan, our Gate Safety Officer is on duty at the school gate.

Was it you that stopped on zig-zags the other day? You probably thought it was ok.
|
WELL PLEASE THINK AGAIN
Even stopping for a short time makes it dangerous for children who want to cross the road to and from school. It stops drivers from seeing them and them from seeing approaching traffic.
WHAT YOU COULD HAVE DONE!
Walk to and from school with your child and show them how to cross safely or, if you really have to take your car, stop well away from the school and NEVER on the zig-zags.
REMEMBER
Always look out for children who are walking to and from school. Parked cars are a major cause of casualties outside schools.

CUT THE CLUTTER

Overcrowded Cloakrooms
|
|
As part of a wider review of storage and Health and Safety in the School, it is becoming increasingly clear that the school has a problem with excess coats and bags. The cloakroom areas are becoming seriously overcrowded. Can you help us reduce the clutter!?
Whilst we understand that more clothing is necessary at this time of year, there is also a particular problem with large rucksacks and holdalls along with unnecessary items being brought into school. These often end up falling off pegs onto the floor and can result in items being lost.
|
|
The only items that children require at school are:
PE Kit which can be left on pegs and taken home at weekends/half term for washing.
Book Bag which should only contain items to be transported from home to school, including homework and reading books/records.
Lunch Boxes, which can be carried separately and for which we have storage trolleys.
Occasional items, i.e. swimming kit and football kit, costumes for productions etc should be brought to school on the day required and then taken home.
All items brought to school should clearly be named.
During our lost property exercise over 40 items without names on were disposed of!

Collecting children from school
|
|
|
On a further Health and Safety matter, there are still a number of parents who are meeting their children inside the school. Unfortunately, we do not have the space for this, so I would be grateful if you could follow the school policy and wait for your children in the playground or, if you need to come into the school, report to the school office.
