Ofsted visited the school and said that we are good overall. The inspectors said that attainment is rising at Capel-le-Ferne Primary School and a greater proportion of pupils are making better than expected progress, with significant gains in reading and mathematical ability across the school. Teach Your Monster to Read is a new online game that helps children to practise the first stages of reading by creating monsters and visiting magical islands. It’s totally free to use but registration is required. There is a demo if you want to try things out before registering. |

Help with Reading - Letters and Sounds

At Capel we teach phonics through the Letters and Sounds programme, which involves teaching the children how the alphabet works for reading and spelling by valuing children’s speaking and listening skills, and giving them the phonic knowledge and skills they need to become fluent readers by the age of seven. |
